Q4

The background the magazine itself conveys a monochrome colouring, giving a more solemn tone to the image. Joni Mitchell shows a sense of happiness, contrasting to the seriousness illustrated from the colour palette. The artist is written in, huge block capitals 'JONI MITCHELL' showing her importance and prominent feature on the cover. the magazine has a calming feel to it using a soft colour palette featuring light blue and beige as the accent colours.

The Magazine itself features 'positive' stories and uses dramatic words to entice the reader on the cover lines justifiable to the right: such as 'magic' and 'untold', this makes people want to read what its about. a pull quote is used from the main article "my gift was born of tragedy" this makes the reader want to uncover the story behind it and find out about the 'tragedy'.

This shows how Mojo venerate musicians in a positive light, illustrating their personality to try sell their music. it represents authentic music by using well-known artists who have been famous decades ago, meaning it will interest a wider range of readers, including older adults.

Remember that in this question, the focus is on the representation of musicians (so only analyse the visual language in terms of how it shapes the representations). You express yourself too much as if the question were analysing the verbal language rather than the musicians, how they look, how they come across, how MOJO positions them. So you need to draw attention to her cheerfulness, openness etc and the fact that a feminine cover is anti-stereotypical for MOJO
