exam q8

The dark blue header might suggest shows importance of the title, showing this is the main focus of thee whole page overall. the burgundy colors might suggest of more a alerting color- being closer to the color red it would catch peoples eye immediately showing this is of a high importance on the front page. sans serif in a white color to create a more clear view of the title so reader are clear about what the story is about before they read it, this is an important element for a new paper- this font is also simple so therefore doesn't feature too much calligraphy. It uses bold words to define the more important words and help people to understand more about the article from a first glance. the homepage could be seen as 'serious' because of the articles featured - how they speak to the reader, or how there are quite dark pictures depicting some serious stories, not for a particular audience and more for the more mature people of society. Most of the text is written in first person having the subject of 'I' most often - the objectification of a news paper is for people to find out what is happening in other peoples lives, therefore using this address would help to engage the reader and  distress what the whole idea of the paper is. this also helps attract more people to read the stories as people are interested in events that are occurring in other peoples lives.  sympathetic and emotive language is used in sad stories to create more drama, and make people interested- not only this but to express  the meaning behind the story one headline is "can i forgive the man who raped me?" this is a rhetorical question also to leave the readers on edge (a cliff hanger). this being a question makes people want to read it to see thee answer- and here their journey. "comedy horror-movie racial tensions" - this could appeal to a lot of people who feel strongly about this situation and feel as if they are outraged because of this making you want to find out the situation and even make a difference.

  1. Q.8 "Give two examples" for 5 marks
    Mark 3 out of 5
    1. You write thoughtfully about the blue and burgundy as a backdrop to the text. However, draw out the 'seriousness and formality ' of theses colours. Call the band at the top the masthead.
    2. You write : "this font is also simple so therefore doesn't feature too much calligraphy": state what sans serif connotes.
    3. "the objectification of a news paper". You probably mean "the object of..."
    4. The typeface used in the headings is a serif font. What does that connote?
    5. Sensible other points.
    6. Use paragraphs and accurate punctuation.
